Nutty, hilarious, and full of soul, The Blues Brothers is the kind of film that pulls you in as it sets off on its own groove. When they learn the orphanage they grew up in will be closed unless $5000 in property taxes is paid, “Joliet” Jake and Elwood Blues (John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd) hop in their Bluesmobile – a decommissioned police car – to reunite the Blues Brothers band and save their childhood home. John Landis (Animal HouseAn American Werewolf in London) co-wrote and directed the film, itself based on an SNL sketch written by Aykroyd & Belushi. Keep your eyes open for a slew of cameos ranging from James Brown, Cab Calloway, and Aretha Franklin to Carrie Fisher, Herny Gibson, and John Candy – and the first ever on-screen appearance from a young Mr. T.
