A perennial Christmas classic, Miracle on 34th Street tells the story of a department store Santa Claus (lovingly played by Edmund Gwenn) who claims to be the real Claus. In spite of his good nature and widespread appeal, poor Kris Kringle is put on trial for his claim, putting everyone’s faith to the test. Over seventy years after its premiere, the film continues to delight audiences and charm even the staunchest nonbeliever. This is not least in part to Gwenn’s costar, Natalie Wood, as 8-year-old Susan, whose mother Doris (Maureen O’Hara) is raising her up to not believe in Santa. In its day, the film won three Academy Awards: Best Actor (Gwenn), Best Writing, Original Story (Valentine Davies) and Best Writing, Screenplay (Seaton). This film is appropriate for ages 6 and up.
