"Reality TV is junk food in comparison to this nourishing feast of human experience." - Time Out
"The film's closing contrast, monastery libraries paired with a fire in Vienna, champions archiving as civilized resistance." - Village Voice
"Is there a less diluted apogee of the Gonze-auteurist ideal than artist, critic, and avant-garde cheerleader Jonas Mekas." - Slant Magazine
A film diary divided into three episodes. In the first part, Jonas Mekas tells about his time as an emigrant in New York in the 1950s, after leaving his home country of Lithuania. The second part depicts his first trip back, while the last is filmed during a stay in Vienna shortly afterwards.
