From LORD OF THE RINGS to CORALINE, miniature sets have been a staple in filmmaking for over 100 years!  In this week-long camp for veterans of our general Animation Camp, campers will learn the history or miniature making, study design, and create their own miniature set pieces, including buildings, terrain, and more!  Students will have the option to work on individual or collaborative projects. Please note this course will use hot glue and Exacto knives. Safety gloves will be provided.

This advanced camp is for students entering grades 6, 7 or 8 who have taken our general Animation Camp before.

Up to 10 campers may register for the week-long camp.
This camp will only be offered in person - there is no virtual option.
Camp will be held at FilmScene on the Ped Mall, located at 118 E. College in Iowa City.

All technology and supplies included. Each day includes stretching and snack breaks. Two snacks and individually-packed lunches from Bread Garden Market are provided.

Each student will be provided with digital copies of their work, and all campers and their families are invited to an end of summer celebration on Saturday, August 14. Details to be announced.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

FilmScene Health and Safety protocols will be followed throughout the in-person camps. Masks will be required for campers when indoors. Camp instructors are fully vaccinated and will not wear masks while conducting group instruction, but may wear masks at their discretion during one-on-one instruction. We have reduced our class capacities and will have various sanitation methods in use (hand washing, surface disinfectant wipes, etc). Further, FilmScene does not plan to host any other activities at the Ped Mall location during camp.

FilmScene believes the health and safety of staff and guests is paramount. On site safety protocols will continually be reconfirmed or altered to align with significant changes to public health conditions. Registrants will be notified of any changes to FilmScene protocol.

CANCELLATION POLICY

A deposit is required to secure in-person registration, and a full fee is required to secure virtual registration. This deposit/fee is refundable until May 1. After May 1, deposits/fees are only issued in the case of illness or emergency. For cancellations made at least four weeks before your camper's class begins, refunds will be issued at the discretion of FilmScene staff, less a $50 cancellation fee per camper. For cancellations made less than four weeks before your camper's class begins, no refunds will be issued (unless in the case of illness and emergency). Any tuition paid for the class, minus the $50 cancellation fee will become a FilmScene credit usable only toward a future FilmScene Animation Camp. Any difference in cost from the new class will not be refunded. No credits or refunds will be given for cancellations occurring within two business days of the start date of the class; similarly, no credits or refunds will be given once camp sessions begin. If for whatever reason FilmScene must cancel a camp session at any point, full refunds will be given to all registrants. Virtual registration and in-person registration is not exchangeable
