"The kind of old-school Hollywood melodrama you can't help but fall for." —Smash Cut

"Has an integrity, a courage, a warm liveliness about it which invites the deepest admiration." —The Spectator

At an Army barracks in Hawaii in the days preceding the attack on Pearl Harbor, lone-wolf soldier and boxing champion "Prew" Prewitt (Montgomery Clift) refuses to box, preferring to play the bugle instead. Hard-hearted Capt. Holmes (Philip Ober) subjects Prew to a grueling series of punishments while, unknown to Holmes, the gruff but fair Sgt. Warden (Burt Lancaster) engages in a clandestine affair with the captain's mistreated wife (Deborah Kerr). Academy Award winner for Best Picture, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Frank Sinatra) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Iowa's own Donna Reed.

Admission is free and open to the public. Seating will be first-come-first-served for all FilmScene in the Park screenings, with movies beginning at sunset. Healthy and safety protocols will be in place including social distancing aided by painted markers on the lawn. The city-wide mask mandate will be enforced when moviegoers are not eating or drinking.
