Shot over an entire year, My Octopus Teacher explores the unlikely bond formed between filmmaker Craig Foster and an inquisitive octopus inhabiting a kelp forest beneath the tip of South Africa. Documenting the entire life cycle of the octopus, Academy Award-winning directors Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed invite us into an alien world filled with equal parts beauty and danger at every turn. The stunning underwater images, shot with cutting edge cameras, combined with intimate portraits of Craig and the octopus bridge the divide between man and animal, showing that we are more alike than we think.

My Octopus Teacher won 1 Academy Award: Best Documentary Feature.
