Tina (Eva Melander) is a border guard who has the ability to smell human emotions and catch smugglers. When she comes across a mysterious man with a smell that confounds her detection, she is forced to confront hugely disturbing insights about herself and humankind.

Border is based on a book by John Lindqvist, whose Let the Right One In was also adapted into a critically acclaimed film in 2008. According to director Ali Abassi, although Lindqvist is "known as a fantasy writer, underneath there's always something unsettling, and something very serious... The story had a complexity in itself." This unique and engrossing film won the Un Certain Regard prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and was Sweden's official selection for Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards.
