Python Hunt

Florida has never looked stranger, funnier, or more hypnotic than in THE PYTHON HUNT (2025), director Xander Robin’s wildly entertaining dive into the annual Everglades competition where amateur snake hunters descend on the swamp in pursuit of invasive Burmese pythons. What begins as a documentary about ecological conservation quickly mutates into something far more fascinating: a portrait of obsession, eccentricity, and the uniquely Floridian dream of finding purpose in the darkness.

When a runaway locomotive hurtles toward fabulous destruction, it’s up to a wildly mismatched crew of divas, himbos, and unapologetic drama queens to serve heroism, deliver killer one-liners, and somehow keep the train — and their wigs — on the tracks.

The Celluloid Closet

For its 30th anniversary, THE CELLULOID CLOSET (1995) still feels sharp, instructive, and frustratingly relevant.Based on Vito Russo’s landmark book, Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s documentary traces how Hollywood has depicted queer lives across the 20th century—less through direct representation than through suggestion, stereotype, coded villainy, and careful erasure. Narrated by Lily Tomlin, it moves through decades of film history using clips and interviews with actors, writers, and directors (Whoopi Goldberg, Harvey Fierstein, and more) who helped shape the system while also reflecting on its limits.
