Description

75th Anniversary Screening!

The films are hot, but the Revue’s AC will be cranked for the ten films in this summer’s Heat Wave lineup.

Heat Wave at the Revue Cinema, a lineup of the greatest summer movies ever made, continues on August 5th with the sizzling summer classic ACE IN THE HOLE with an introduction by Neon Dreams curator, BRENDAN ROSS!

"Do you drink a lot?" "Not a lot, just frequently."

The legendary Kirk Douglas delivers his fiercest (and sweatiest) performance in Billy Wilder's Ace in the Hole, a sizzling tale of greed and ambition set under the blazing New Mexican sun.

Douglas plays "Chuck" Tatum, an arrogant, drunken, morally bankrupt newsman fired from multiple major outlets before washing up in Albuquerque. Growing bored with the slow pace of his low-rent newspaper, Tatum stumbles upon the scoop of a lifetime and does whatever it takes to keep the lurid headlines flowing—because, "bad news sells best...good news is no news."

Billy Wilder's follow-up to Sunset Boulevard celebrates its 75th anniversary, and its fiery indictment of American sensationalism and satirical take on the quest for power at any cost has only grown more relevant. The film's pitch-black tone is perfectly balanced with cunning wit, razor-sharp dialogue, and total spectacle that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible.
