Description

Following one of the coolest and most crowd-pleasing blockbusters of the 2000s was never going to be easy. Instead of delivering another banger, director Steven Soderbergh made something stranger: a breezy, self-indulgent European caper that often feels less like a sequel and more like you're tagging along on an impossibly glamorous vacation with some of the biggest movie stars on the planet. At the time, audiences expecting another tightly wound casino heist were left wondering if they'd accidentally wandered into the world's most expensive celebrity home movie.

With expectations out of the way, Ocean's Twelve reveals itself as one of Hollywood's weirdest and divisive studio sequels. It's playful, effortlessly stylish, and it spends more time enjoying its cast than trying to top its predecessor. The result is a film that's become a cult favorite precisely because it refuses to play by the rules.

Revisit Ocean's Twelve on the big screen and see if it may have been judged too harshly the first time around! (SERENA WHITNEY, Programming Director)
