Description

Post-film panel discussion on Sunday, September 13th with Rana Mahmoud and Dunia Ibrahim, moderated Dr. Mohamed Ghumrawi, FIU professor and Assistant Director of the Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Center for Muslim World Studies. This panel will be followed by a reception on the plaza.

From Oscar®-nominated and Emmy® Award-winning filmmaker Poh Si Teng, AMERICAN DOCTOR follows three American physicians— Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian—united by a single oath to save lives. After volunteering in besieged hospitals in Gaza, they return home determined to fight for the patients and colleagues they left behind, taking their battle from the front lines of war to the halls of Congress.

About Rana Mahmoud

Rana Mahmoud is a registered nurse with over 20 years of healthcare experience, specializing in trauma and emergency medicine. She served on two humanitarian medical missions in Gaza, traveling and working alongside the doctors in the film.

About Dunia Ibrahim

Dunia Ibrahim is a South Florida attorney, who, in conjunction with HEAL Palestine Inc., served as a compassionate host family, hosting a mother/daughter from Gaza in her home for several months, while the young girl could have access to needed specialized medical care and recovery, including being fitted for a prosthetic leg, after losing her leg in an airstrike on a neighboring home.
