PRESENTED ON 35MM! 35TH ANNIVERSARY SCREENING!
PAID IN SWEAT’S presents a BEFORE TRILOGY! On Deck…
Gil Renard (Robert DeNiro) is a desperate salesman on the brink of failure, and his only joy is
his unwavering devotion to All-Star baseball player Bobby Rayburn (Wesley Snipes). Both men
struggle to be the best – Rayburn at the game and Renard at being a fan.
BEFORE THERE WAS Obsession, there was THE FAN!
Tony Scott has quickly become a staple in the PAID IN SWEAT program, and we are not done
with him yet! His high energy and bold aesthetics fit in perfectly with the mandate developed
over the last four years. THE FAN has found it’s home with this series. It’s provocative, thrilling,
and stylistic. From it’s broad performances, themes of intense infatuation, to the antics of
opening day vibes, and ruckus commentary on perfection and fandom, are a fast ball and
curveball of an adaption. Though very much a product of that 90s bravado, it certainly speaks to
the parasocial relationships of today. THE FAN’s personality will play out stunningly on 35MM
with Snipes and DeNiro facing off on the diamond. You need to see this melodrama with an
October crowd, poised to take a time machine back to 1996, this fall. See ya at the movies! (VANYA GARRAWAY)
