A yakuza enforcer is ordered to secretly drive his beloved colleague to be assassinated. But when the colleague unceremoniously disappears en route, the trip that follows is a twisted, surreal and horrifying experience.
From Takashi Miike, one of the most prolific and controversial directors of all time (AUDITION, DEAD OR ALIVE, ICHI THE KILLER) comes perhaps his strangest film ever, and that's saying a lot! A delightful and confounding mashup of the two genres he's best known for, this Yakuza Horror Theatre is as absurd and unhinging as anything you've ever seen. Restored from a 35mm print that survived it's original Cannes Film Festival screening, GOZU is a fever dream, a nightmare logic psychosexual freakout! (STEVEN LANDRY)
