Director John Lowe follows Lale's Labuko’s five-year quest to put an end to a violent custom of the Kara people of the Omo Valley in southwest Ethiopia. For generations they have believed that certain children are cursed and must be killed to save the tribe from drought and disease. Lale is a young educated Kara who was 15 years old when he learned he had 2 older sisters who were killed. He returns to his village determined to not let another child killed. -JM
