Paul Sharits

PAUL SHARITS is an engaging portrait of one of the key figures of the American avant-garde cinema. In the mid sixties he started to explore the potential of the flicker and pursuing the total deconstruction of the parameters of 16mm film for abstract films. Miron’s film sketches a portrait of a tormented, deeply romantic artist, always courting disaster but also cursed by an inherited mental condition. The many interviews and testimonies are also a portrait of a generation of leading voices in experimental filmmaking. -JM
