David Bowie stars in director Jim Henson’s 1986 fantasy spectacle, Labyrinth. Teenage Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) is unhappy about having to babysit her infant brother Toby and unwittingly summons the Goblin King Jareth (David Bowie) from one of her storybooks. He whisks the baby away to his labyrinth, leaving Sarah only 13 hours to rescue him before the child mutates into a goblin. While Bowie steals the show, Labyrinth is further proof of Jim Henson’s boundless imagination and remains a sophisticated accomplishment of puppetry and effects. Nina Darnton of The New York Times notes Labyrinth is, “A remarkable achievement.”
