Maria is a young teenage girl working as a cog in the machine of a tightly controlled community of guerilla fighters. When a child is born to a top commander, Maria and three other young soldiers are put in charge of transporting the baby through the volatile jungle to safety. The journey stirs Maria’s desire for freedom and a life outside the confines of being a rebel warrior. In a movie he dedicates to his mother and “to all courageous women,” director Jose Luis Rugeles investigates the rigorous personal trials of a female child soldier.
