Description

Brutal, funny and often times terrifying, Danny Boyle's Trainspotting is a fiery portrait of a lost generation. Renton (Ewan McGregor) is deeply submerged in the Edinburgh, Scotland heroin scene. In an attempt to get clean - despite the allure of drugs, friends, and excitement - Renton moves to London to restart his life and seize some peace of mind. But his past catches up to him when former junkie friends Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Begbie (Robert Carlyle), and Spud (Ewen Bremner) arrive at his doorstep on the heels of a big score, dragging Renton back into the life he’s desperate to leave. Trainspotting is not for the faint of heart, but serves as an important and realistic reminder of the horrors of heroin addiction. The film was ranked #10 on the British Film Institute's 100 Greatest British Films of the 20th Century and was the fourth highest grossing British film in history. Variety dubbed the film, "Scabrous, brutal and hip. Trainspotting is A Clockwork Orange for the '90s."
