Description

CONTENT WARNING: VIOLENCE AND SEXUALLY EXPLICIT LANGUAGE AND IMAGES

Banned in its home country, Much Loved delves into the lives of four sex workers living in Marrakech. Deserted by their families, Noha (Loubna Abidar), Randa (Asmaa Lazrak), Soukaina (Halima Karaouane), and Hima (Sara Elhamdi Elalaoui) take care of one another as they navigate a world of high-class foreign clients and corrupt police. As much as this film presents an intimate portrait of friendship and the perseverance of its vivid characters, Much Loved also tackles the sexist and moralizing attitudes that accompany this profession.

Director Biography

Nabil Ayouch works and lives in Casablanca. His first two feature films, Mektoub (1997) and Ali Zaoua (2000), represented Morocco at the Academy Awards.
