Sandro (Filippo Scicchitano) is barely 20. Sweet-tempered, sometimes insecure, his secret ambition is to become a writer. In contrast, Luciano (Giovanni Anzaldo) is courageous and brilliant, but with a mysterious dark side. They meet over the tables of the restaurant where they are both waiters. Like many of their contemporaries, the new friends feel that they have no future. Guided by instinct, and on a wave of euphoric recklessness, they decide to seek out a better future for themselves in Cuba, the new frontier of hope where anything is possible. The plan is to open an Italian restaurant that offers its patrons Wi-Fi, a scarce service on the island. Once there, instead of a local guide, they find themselves with Nora (Sara Serraiocco), another young Italian, who both scares and fascinates them with her strange ways. She seems to have been sent by destiny. With this unusual girl, Sandro and Luciano will discover a glorious way to lose oneself that will give profound meaning to the trick of fate that allowed them to meet. Through dangerous, violent choices, necessary encounters, and farewells full of silence, NO COUNTRY FOR THE YOUNG depicts the stubborn tenaciousness and beauty of a generation that—even as it is denied a place in which to grow—refuses to let itself be extinguished. –
