Retro Picture Show Presents: TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE and TWO EVIL EYES - both screening on 35mm.

TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE (1990)

From Stephen King (Pet Sematary), Michael McDowell (Beetlejuice), George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead), and Arthur Conan Doyle (creator of Sherlock Holms) comes Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, an all-star horror anthology packed with fun and fright.

"The Wraparound Story" concerns a little boy who spins all the tales... to distract a modern-day witch who wants to pop him in the oven!

In "Lot 249", a malevolent mummy gives new meaning to "final exams" when he awakens to wreak revenge on unsuspecting student bodies.

A furry black kitty is really the "Cat from Hell".

A "Lover's Vow" brings a stone gargoyle to murderous life. (US, 93 mins, Dir. John Harrison, 35mm)

TWO EVIL EYES (1990)

George A. Romero provides unabated horror in "The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar". As he lays dying, Ernest Valdemar's scheming young wife (Adrienne Barbeau) and her lover (Ramy Zada) anxiously await his demise - and his vast fortune. But when Ernest dies unexpectedly while under hypnosis, a supernatural power prepares to unleash itself. Unknown horrors are about to occur... and justice will be done.

Dario Argento masterfully guides suspense to unbearable limits in "The Black Cat". A photographer specializing in documenting grisly crimes (Harvey Keitel) takes an immediate dislike to his girlfriend's adopted cat... and murderously arranges the feline's mysterious "disappearance". But when he encounters another cat that is seemingly linked to his evil deed, he is forced to contemplate another murder, forgetting the inevitable: that cats are known for possessing nine lives... (US / Italy, 121 mins, Dir. George A. Romero / Dario Argento, 35mm)
