Description

Join tie-dyed lab coat scientists and UI Physics and Astronomy Professor Cornelia Lang after the film as they talk space, life on other planets and, you know, little green men. Interactive and fun for all ages!

“E.T. is a reminder of what movies are for. Most movies are not for any one thing, of course. Some are to make us think, some to make us feel, some to take us away from our problems, some to help us examine them. What is enchanting about E.T. is that, in some measure, it does all of those things." - Roger Ebert, rogerebert.com

"E.T. is a slick, spirited comedy about children's coping in a world where adults have grown up and away from innocence."
- Vincent Canby, New York Times

In this 80s classic, a gentle alien becomes stranded on Earth, and is discovered and befriended by a young boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas). Bringing the extraterrestrial into his suburban California house, Elliott introduces E.T., as the alien is dubbed, to his brother and little sister, Gertie (Drew Barrymore), and the children decide to keep its existence a secret. Soon, however, E.T. falls ill, resulting in government intervention and a dire situation for both Elliott and his new friend. Presented as part of Science on Screen® - An initiative of the COOLIDGE CORNER THEATRE, with major support from the ALFRED P. SLOAN FOUNDATION.
