Description

“A short, sharp, funny shock of a movie."
- Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

“For anyone who's been to a dull dinner party and secretly yearned for something - anything - to happen, The Party is 70 economical minutes of guilty pleasures."
- Phil De Semlyen, Empire

“Gleefully nasty, zinger-packed and over in 71 minutes, Sally Potter's dark drawing-room comedy is her zestiest work in ages."
- Guy Lodge, Variety

In Sally Potter's new dark comedy, Janet (Kristen Scott Thomas) is hosting an intimate gathering of friends in her London home to celebrate her political ascension, while her husband (Timothy Spall), seems preoccupied. Janet's acerbic best friend, April (Patricia Clarkson) arrives and others follow, some with their own dramatic news to share, but an announcement by Bill provokes a series of revelations that gradually unravel the sophisticated soiree, and a night that began with champagne may end with gunplay.
