A powerful film adaptation of the landmark book about an African-American woman who became an unwitting pioneer for medical breakthroughs when her cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line in the early 1950s.

The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks tells the story of Henrietta Lacks (Renée Elise Goldsberry), an African-American woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line. Told through the eyes of her daughter, Deborah Lacks (Oprah Winfrey), the film chronicles her search, aided by journalist Rebecca Skloot (Rose Byrne), to learn about the mother she never knew and to understand how the unauthorized harvesting of Lacks’ cancerous cells in 1951 led to unprecedented medical breakthroughs, changing countless lives and the face of medicine forever. It’s a story of medical arrogance and triumph, race, poverty and deep friendship between the unlikeliest of people. (USA, 2017, 93 min., TV-MA, English | Dir. George C. Wolfe)
Produced by Cindy Campbell.

Alfred Lacks-Carter is an ex-marine and President of Henrietta Lacks House which is a transitional housing program for men returning from incarceration in Baltimore, MD. His mission is to help men find their true part at the same time honoring and keeping his grandmother’s legacy alive.
