Description

A.B. Troen’s timely triptych follows three LGBT people who have come to the United States in search of a safe place to call home. Brandon is a former attorney from Shanghai who gave up his family, friends, and job in China to live openly as a gay man in the U.S. where he is studying to pass the California bar exam and help others with immigration issues; Stacy is a transgender refugee who escaped the dangerous and intolerant environment in El Salvador and is currently working as a housekeeper in downtown L.A. while finalizing her case for asylum and competing in beauty pageants; Elaheh was born in Iran but escaped to the US to live safely as a Lesbian refugee and fulfill her dream as a bodybuilder. All three were on the verge of their happy ending, only to have their hopes dashed and fears reignited on the eve of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.
