Description

Due to weather, the April 14, 9:55pm screening of Samui Song at St. Anthony Main Theatre has been postponed. New screening date/time: May 1 at 9:20pm.

A neo-noir that puts a fresh spin on the genre, Thai director Pen-ek Rataranuang’s Samui Song is a mystery wrapped in a riddle by way of Brian De Palma. Focussing on an unhappy relationship, Rataranuang throws us into the uncomfortable machinations of a marriage that goes from bad to worse.

Viyada or “Vi” is a soap-drama actress whose personal and professional life has hit a snag. Her  husband, a French millionaire, is involved in a religious cult and is more concerned with pleasing the “Holy One” than he is his wife. When Vi meets the handsome and enigmatic Guy by coincidence (or is it?), Vi decides to take action and make Guy her accomplice.

Punctuated by the dark jungles and the bright beaches of Thailand, Samui Song is sure to keep you on your toes, right up to the last entertaining second.
