A Kenyan superhero movie, Supa Modo is the story of 9-year-old Jo, fan of kung fu star Jackie Chan whose movies are regularly shown by her friend Mighty Mike in the backroom cinema of Maweni. A cancer patient, Jo’s biggest dream is to be a superhero herself, because then she could fly. When Jo comes home from the hospital for good, her older sister Mwix involves the entire village in elaborate enactments to affirm the existence of the young girl’s super powers. Jo’s mum soon confronts the reality of their final days together and learns what her daughter really wants–to make a movie!
An inspiring drama about a small Kenyan community fulfilling the wishes of a much-loved child, Super Modo also pays tribute to the powers of imagination, invincible superheroes, and the immortal joy and power of making movies.
