Description

A nonlinear mystery thriller with horror elements, Li Xiaofeng’s Ash is the tale of two men whose lives are intertwined. The film begins with detective Chen Weikun (actor Nie Yuan), who takes on the murder case of a man. Chen questions the man’s wife and his stepson, Xu Feng, but the case is closed without a much of a clue or a suspect.

Ten years later, the film transitions to Wang Dong, a successful surgeon whose life is interrupted by a nightmare in which he sees Xu Feng, a man with whom he made a deadly pact long ago. As a decade-long truth is unraveled, director Li builds a haunting world that lingers on the history of two men, Xu and Wang, and how their decisions have led to starkly different paths that continue to collide.
