Description

After being raped by two cops, young Mariam faces an unfeeling world that treats her plight with contempt rather than sympathy. After her modest attire gets torn, Mariam throws on a tight black dress and heads out for the night. When we next see her, Mariam is stumbling into the street, her dress ripped, her body violated, and her world shattered. As Mariam goes through the steps in reporting the crime, she is met with judgmental looks and belittlement at every turn, both from civilians and officials.

As an audience, we accompany the young “Beauty” as the night unfolds, following her quest for justice even as the desk clerk’s sympathy for Mariam’s plight fades fast and two cops stalk her to try to get her to drop the charges.
