Description

Tickets to Rochester screenings will be sold at the door.

A film by Juan Carlos Maneglia and Tana Schémbori, The Gold Seekers is a fresh take on the adventure story told through the perspectives of a band of young treasure hunters. Set in Asunción, the story’s protagonist is newspaper delivery boy Manu. While reading through his grandfather’s book, young Manu is met with a surprise—a hidden map and photos. Remembering that his grandfather was a treasure hunter and fascinated by Paraguay’s triple border, Manu decides to go looking for adventure himself. Along for the ride are his friends Fito and Elio as they let the map lead them to the hidden treasure’s location—an embassy building.

A spirited, humorous film for all ages that is both adventure story and poignant look at young adulthood, The Gold Seekers was Paraguay’s official entry to the 2018 Academy Awards.
