Description

A continuation of Xavier Legrand's heart wrenching short film Before We Lose Everything (‘14), we are reintroduced to the story of a mother and son who find themselves at the start of what is sure to be a bitter custody battle. Having barely escaped the grasp of her abusive husband, Miriam is thrown back into the broiler after her ex uses legal loopholes to win joint custody of their son, Antoine.

A stark look at how the system can betray family, Legrand's sophomore feature is a mature, slow burn drama that examines the depth of heartbreak and injustice that can come out of the family court room. While Miriam had hoped she would be free of abuse, the law has swept her back under the shadow of a toxic relationship. The same can be said for Antoine, who serves as a tragic reminder of the ones such cases affect most.
