Marked by a divine destiny, a young Joan of Arc takes centerstage of this musical comedy from renowned French director Bruno Dumont. Joan, for now simply known as Jeanette, is a brave, idealistic girl whose historical legacy is yet to come. Never shying from the humor that accompanies the film’s rhythmic motif, the musical is set in a rural France where our young heroine is just beginning to feel the stirring of a grander mission.

Child actor Lise Leplat Prudhomme is the first to helm the role of the spirited Jeanette, cartwheeling through the scenery until actor Jeanne Voisin picks up the baton for the teenaged Jeanette. Surrounding Jeanette are a cast of lively characters, namely nun Madam Gervaise and Jeanette’s uncle (played by local rapper Nicholas Leclaire). Brimming with hilarity and life, Dumont’s film follows Jeannette’s youthful journey the only way it can—through song and dance.
