Description

Tickets to Rochester screenings will be sold at the door.

An animated epic crafted from the young voices of Swaziland, Liyana tells the story of a brave girl who must race against time and distance to rescue her twin brothers. An ambitious work of cinema, Liyana utilizes vibrant animation and documentary footage to bring our heroine’s quest to life, unfolding like a breathtaking picture book. From the minds of a group of orphans in Swaziland, assisted by South African storyteller Gcina Mholphe and visual artist Shofela Coker, Liyana and her story are born.

A film by married duo Aaron and Amanda Kopp, Liyana has garnered numerous awards, including Best Documentary at the LA Film Festival and the award for Artistic Bravery at the Durban International Film Festival.
