The sixth feature from Mohammad Rasoulof is both a character study and a commentary on modern Iran. A brave and human drama, A Man of Integrity follows Reza (played with piercing depth by actor Reza Aklaghirad), a man whose life has been shaped by his refusal to ignore injustice, corruption and slights. After he is kicked out of a teachers’ college for speaking out, Reza heads to the countryside, hoping for a new beginning up north. Somewhat adrift, Reza is steadied by his wife Hadis, who does her best to keep his passion measured. But when an encounter with a local enforcer, Abbas, leads to yet another injustice—this time at the expense of Reza’s freedom—we as an audience are placed at a crossroads along with this man of integrity, all of us asking ourselves if justice can ever be found in a world where it is ignored?
