Shocking and true, Crime + Punishment explores the internal corruption of the New York City Police Department and the racist system that underlies it through the eyes of a courageous group of NYPD officers determined to change the status quo.
Shooting with intimate access to the officers, who have dared to take the NYPD to court for the corruption, and utilizing dramatic hidden recordings, director Stephen Maing rips the lid off the NYPD and its illegitimate practices which consistently target minorities and lower income citizens to meet quotas. In this harrowing and emotionally stirring documentary, we witness first-hand the pressures put on officers to forego ethics to meet expectations, and what happens when they refuse to compromise.

Press
"Maing (who acts as his own cinematographer) appears to have had unprecedented, fly-on-the-wall access to the group, and he compellingly details how their decision to speak truth to power has its soul-sapping consequences." - Hollywood Reporter
