Description

Director Yasir Al-Yasiri Attending April 18 + 21

A feel-good comedy about aging, friendship and new directions, On Borrowed Time is director Yasir Al Yasir’s follow-up to his 2012 film Murk Light, which earned him the Best Short Narrative Award at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. Taking place in and around a Dubai retirement home, the film follows four elderly men who appear to be settling in for the long haul—that is, until one of them receives an unexpected and mammoth inheritance.

A family comedy, the film features a powerhouse international cast including Kuwaiti actor Saad Al Faraj, Syrian actor Salloum Hadad and Emirati actors Mansoor Al Feeli and Marie Al Halyan. While On Borrowed Time is delightful when exploring the prospect of a new lease on life, its best moments are when it tenderly highlights the importance of friendship regardless of whether or not that lease holds up.
