Description

Our New President centers on how Russians view Donald Trump as depicted through the distorted lenses of Russian state-sponsored media and from a collage of amateur YouTube clips. From the presidential election to his first year in office, this artfully constructed documentary explores the praise and fervent support Trump has garnered from Russia and the wave of propaganda inspired by his rise.

Our New President takes audiences inside the bubble of fake news and “shock” programming that is heavily promoted in the country in order to catapult Trump into the realm of an untouchable figure of power. A maddening albeit satirical feature, Our New President is ultimately a cunning portrait of the dangers of propaganda and its influence on human perception of reality.
