Music makes for romantic explorations in this irreverent dramedy from Miroslav Krobot. Our titular quartette is a collective of string players who live in a Czech town and practice contemporary music while navigating their individual relationship woes. Each with their own outlook on attraction, love and sex, the characters of The Quartette discover that, despite their artistic talents, they may not have a clue when it comes to social ties.
The group is composed of the wayward Tomáš, longtime couple Robert and Simona and the painfully reserved Funés. The members of the quad are as odd as they are close, and the tangled webs between them make for hilarity, absurdity and drama. But as the story unfolds, it appears as if the misadventures of the group’s interpersonal lives may cause their musical partnership to fray, or perhaps even unravel for good.
