From director Jason Reitman, writer Diablo Cody and actor Charlize Theron, Tully is a charming dramedy about an unexpected—but desperately needed—friendship. Margo (Theron) is a hardworking mother of three, whose newest child has tipped her over the edge of exhaustion. Margo’s brother (Mark Duplass) notices his sister’s plight and hires a night nanny, the eponymous Tully (Mackenzie Davis).
After another tiring day, Margo opens her front door to find Tully, who states “I’m here to take care of you.” Tully is bright, thoughtful and a little unusual, all traits that take Margo by surprise. While she is at first resistant to the help, Margo soon begins to open up to the idea of having Tully in her life, and so comes a tale of motherhood in 2018, unexpected friendships and the bonds that form when people help each other.
