Description

A charming portrait of everyone’s favorite neighbor, Mister Rogers, Morgan Neville’s documentary feature is as uplifting as it is a poignant summary of the man behind the nostalgia.

Fred Rogers, who died of cancer in 2003, was beloved nationwide as the host of PBS’s Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, a tender and influential figure for audiences young and old. Rogers’ approach to childhood and the questions that accompany growing up was, in comparison to other programs at the time, unique. Unlike the popular superheroes and cartoons of the era, Rogers preferred to speak to young audiences directly and honestly, traits that have endeared him to millions of children. Through rich archival footage and insightful interviews with collaborators, commentators and those who knew him best, we are given a rare peek into the life and legacy of an extraordinary man.
