Description

FREE! Film begins at sundown in FilmScene's alleyway, BYOC (bring your own chair!).

Is this heaven? No, it's thousands of bicyclists rolling in to Iowa City for RAGBRAI XLVI, held July 22-28 across the Hawkeye State!
Join us for our alleyway movie presentation of the made-in-Iowa favorite Field of Dreams at sundown (approximately 8PM), preceded by the the short film Cultivation: Writing and Wrestling in Iowa City.

When Iowa farmer Ray (Kevin Costner) hears a mysterious voice one night in his cornfield saying, "If you build it, he will come," he feels the need to act. Despite taunts of lunacy, Ray builds a baseball diamond on his land, supported by his wife, Annie. Soon, the ghosts of great players start emerging from the crops to play ball, led by "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. But, as Ray learns, this field of dreams is about much more than bringing former baseball greats out to play.

About Cultivation: Writing and Wrestling in Iowa City
From April 3-8, 2018, Iowa City hosted two very different international groups. What makes this small city in the midwest the center of the universe for writing and wrestling? This short film explores origins, draws parallels, and processes the intersections.
