Mitra (Neda Rahmanian) is an ambitious artist in her forties who embarks on her dream project of making a film about the Egyptian singer and diva Oum Kulthum. Drawing parallels between her work and the struggles of the legendary songstress, this beautifully lensed film explores the sacrifices made by both women, Mitra and Oum Kulthum, whose successes must always contend with their male-dominated worlds. As their struggles merge, Mitra finds herself caught in an emotional and artistic breakdown. A passion project for acclaimed Iranian filmmaker and artist Neshat, this film tackles the everyday and professional struggles of women artists and thinkers.
