Nantucket Comedy Festival Presents
Stand Up & Learn
Thursday,
Friday & Saturday, January 17–19, the Nantucket Comedy Festival presents the
first Stand Up & Learn Winter Workshop and Professional Comedy Series of
the new year. Executive Director Kevin
Flynn and will be on island to conduct the workshops for Stand Up & Learn, a
comedy education program for young people ages 8–18. An initiative of the Nantucket Comedy
Festival, Stand Up & Learn enables island children to build self-confidence
while learning to create and perform original stand-up comedy. We had ten students make comedy magic at our
December show at the Boys and Girls Club.
Workshops for
the new session will take place in the Dreamland Studio Theater, 17 South Water
Street, on Thursday and Friday, January 17–18 from 3:30–5 p.m. and on Saturday,
January 19 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m., followed by a children’s performance at 5 p.m.
put on by the workshop participants. Please
sign up soon, as this class will be limited to a maximum of fifteen
children. All children’s workshops are
free to participants. Saturday evening at 7:00, a professional stand up comedy
show (for ages 18 and over) in the Dreamland’s main theater will feature Graig
Murphy.
