Charlie is a Brooklyn librarian who has suffered his whole life from cataplexy, a rare condition that causes him to lose control of his muscles whenever he is overcome with a strong emotion. Experiencing joy is particularly fraught, so attending weddings or even seeing a cute puppy on the street is dangerous. And, most notably, Charlie (perfectly played by The Hobbit’s Martin Freeman) has never really experienced love. His younger brother Cooper (an awkwardly cute Jake Lacy) has always protected him and come to his rescue, and he serves as Charlie’s wingman when he meets fiery Francesca (Deadpool’s Morena Baccarin). Suddenly Charlie is faced with the choice of playing it safe or living fully. Based on a NPR This American Life story, this quirky romantic comedy is full of laugh out loud moments and stand-out performances from its ensemble cast, including the legendary Jane Curtin and Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch.

Cast: Martin Freeman, Morena Baccarin, Melissa Rauch, Jake Lacy, Jane Curtin. (USA, 2019, 90 min., Comedy/Romance)
