Description

Aspiring Glasgow country music singer Rose-Lynn Harlan (with original vocals from up and comer Jessie Buckley) has just been released from prison. She’s a talented, charismatic rebel who dreams of Nashville, “three chords and the truth” tattooed on her arm. She is care-free, but careless and unprepared for the real world and for adult responsibilities. When she takes a job as a cleaning woman for a wealthy family, she finds her greatest champion in the lady of the house. As she struggles to grow up, this ultimately uplifting and captivating story upends our expectations and takes us on Rose-Lynn’s journey of parental relationships (including that with her mother, played by BAFTA and Golden Globe winner Julie Walters), dreams of country music, and finding the value of home, all to the soundtrack of her mesmerizing voice. Cast: Jessie Buckley, Julie Walters, Sophie Okonedo. (UK, 2018, 100 min., Drama)
