Filmed on Super 8 film in Pelourinho – the historic city center of Salvador, Bahia – the film is freely inspired by a letter from visionary sociologist and Pan-Africanist W.E.B. Du Bois to the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil in 1927 concerning attitudes and discrimination toward Black American travelers.
