Description

This video shows a toddler walking around the streets of Beijing. Even though the child is surrounded by a multitude of people, it is evident that he is not being attended to by any guardian. His journey starts with city landmarks, which are crowded with tourists; continues to business centers, filled with fast-walking daily workers; and ends up in areas at the transitioning edge of the city – the expanding border of the metropolitan area. Ungoverned by an adult, the untainted child absorbs the environment and translates it into primary emotions: immense happiness, joy, confusion, and sadness. His simple walking journey is a contraction of time and history and a reduction of layers of judgement that we adults inflict upon reality.?
