Director Darya Zhuk Attending 4/19 & 4/20!
The year is 1996. Young Belarusian DJ Velya dreams of starting a new life in Chicago, the place that first inspired her love of music. But her U.S. visa application is likely to be denied because of her less than extensive, or impressive, work history. Not letting that stop her, Velya instead concocts a new resume that states she previously worked at a crystal factory in a small town. While concocting her fabricated story, Velya accidentally mistypes the work number, spurring a last minute scramble to contact the household at that phone number and convince them not to blow her cover. When Velya meets the family, instead of being sympathetic to her cause, they are wholly invested in planning their son's wedding, a man who may turn out to be Velya's only hope of getting closer to her American Dream.
