Description

Director Ofra Bloch Attending.

Ofra Bloch's timely and stunning debut-documentary doesn't shy away from trauma. Tracing the stories of both victims and victimizers throughout Germany, Israel and Palestine, the film illuminates how trauma, historical and present, shapes identities and points to a path toward healing. Born in Jerusalem, Bloch is a trauma expert who grew up surrounded by both memories and the real-life aftermath of the Holocaust. During her journey, Bloch is compelled to confront her own demons as she interviews a league of survivors, activists, advocates, therapists, historians and more to provide a broad picture of the realities of trauma. Throughout the documentary, we as an audience are asked to consider several questions--such as how do we move forward beyond unimaginable horrors, and more importantly, how do we heal the wounds so often shared between both victim and perpetrator?

Director Biography

Born in Israel, Ofra Bloch is a filmmaker and psychoanalyst whose work researching the short and long-term effects of trauma for Doctors of the World led to the making of her first documentary feature, Afterward.
