Description

A tender and funny romance set in Mumbai from writer/director Ritesh Batra (The Lunchbox), Photograph follows perpetual bachelor Rafi, a struggling street photographer, who impulsively takes a photograph of the beautiful Miloni, as she walks by, at the Gateway of India. When his grandmother Dandi once again asks him when he's going to marry, Rafi sends her the photograph of Miloni, a woman he's never met, passing her off as his "fiancee." Thinking that will be the end of his grandmother's prying, Rafi's world is rocked when she instead invites herself for a visit to meet his "bride-to-be."

Forced to track down Miloni or give up the ruse, Rafi does indeed find her and to his shock she agrees to play along, revealing her similar struggles with the expectations of her middle class family. Caught in each other's orbit, Rafi and Miloni gradually discover that what started as a lie may have blossomed into something more.
